The process of pottery includes: building, drying, firing and glazing of each product, making it time consuming, thus casing this particular extra mural to be a more expensive option. I can assure you that it is worth every penny, seeing the excitement on the children’s faces when they receive their completed work. Watching the development in the child’s ability to work with clay is very rewarding. Clay Creations offers children an excellent opportunity to explore their own creativity. Additionally, they benefit by listening to instruction, processing information received, both verbally and non-verbally and concentrating while using their fine motor skills and hand eye co-ordination. We offer one hour lessons wherein one project is completed each week. The children’s glazed work will be returned to them in 2 weeks at the beginning of term and thereafter every week. The lessons are set out at the beginning of the term, with includes various techniques, Pinch Pots, coil building (sausages) and slab work (flat pieces of clay). Each project is transported back to my studio to be dried, fired and glazed. Once made each project becomes a valued expression of their imagination.
